What is a Witchcraft Mystery School?
​
According to the Theosophical Society, a Mystery School is a 'University of the soul, a school for the study of the inner nature of man and of surrounding nature.' Mystery schools existed prior to secret societies, they have been with us since the dawn of civilization. Common themes include an initiatic system, hidden wisdom and truths revealed through the stages of learning, and a core group of esoteric practitioners.

Why the mystery?
In the past, many groups were sworn to secrecy in order to escape persecution. Some orders and institutions use secrecy as a tool of power and manipulation. Here we believe that wisdom is better experienced than dictated and discovery is part of what makes magic magickal, but first and foremost we do it for safety. We believe that every student must learn to work with powerful forces only after establishing a strong foundation.

What differentiates us from other practices and schools?

Nature is our Cornerstone. We go beyond the religious iconography and focus on finding divinity within the physical nature, i.e. what we can see and touch is also sacred.

We value soul descension as much as spiritual ascension. This means going deep within to find your individual power and guidance.

We are nonhierarchical, nondenominational and nondualistic. We encourage students to find their own voice, freewill and autonomy.

We believe that decolonization begins in the mind. Our approach caters to the local land and the people who have lived there in times past and present.

We are femme, queer, and BIPOC founded. We challenge the schools of thought placed on us by oppressors.

We believe shadow work and left hand path work are essential to developing a spiritually holistic practice and subverting the dominant narratives of our time.

We believe that the wisdom of witchcraft holds as much authority as the occult sciences and is as valid as any other path of the serious student.

We believe the proof is in the pudding. No one should believe what they haven't experienced for themselves. That is why we encourage experimentation, discovery, experience and creativity.

Modern accessibility is crucial. Although we honor our ancient roots, Witxs Rising is a system made for the times we live in.

Our classes are held in person in Denver Colorado and online. All backgrounds, religions and genders are welcome. You must be over 18+. The program is a year long commitment with the potential to further expand your education as we continue to develope. Our next enrollment period begins 2025*.
